We all know the truth: fall is the best season. With crisp air, cozy sweaters, pumpkin spice and harvest feasts…fall has more than earned its wild popularity.
If you’re a loud and proud lover of autumn, we’ve got a list of 7 things you need to check out in Manitoba as we move deeper into the season.
Indulge in the harvest
Fall just wouldn’t be the same without warm, decadent eats from a local favourite restaurant. From tacos to tapas to community fall suppers, there are few things more satisfying than a belly-filling meal on a chilly autumn’s eve.
As the night’s sky gets darker, the northern lights come out to play. Download an aurora forecaster to your phone (In the app store, Aurora with the purple icon is a great choice) and keep track of the upcoming activity. Manitoba is lucky to boast 300 days of northern lights a year, and your chances only get better as the temperatures drop.
Kings of the sub-arctic
In the northern stretches of Manitoba, fall is a particularly exciting time. From mid-October to mid-November, head to Churchill, Manitoba to witness the annual congregation of polar bears as they gather to wait for the ice to form on Hudson Bay. Make no mistake: this is a bucket list experience NOT to be missed.
Fall is the season to begin indulging, and Manitoba has plenty of options for warm mugs of coffee, gooey pastries, and warming cocktails. Head to Patent 5 Distillery to try Manitoba-made vodka and gin, or venture to bakeries like La Belle Baguette, Arborg Bakery, or Chez Angela for something warm and comforting.
