Budget-friendly adventures in the Bay of Fundy

We recently set out on an adventure to explore parts of New Brunswick's southern shores and had an incredible time discovering these hidden gems. If you're looking for a fun-filled getaway that offers a combination of relaxation, nature, and adventure without breaking the bank, look no further. We've got perfect ideas that will have you coming back again and again!
Here are some of the activities you should consider for your Bay of Fundy getaway.
New River Beach Provincial Park
This beautiful spot is lesser-known but has it all! From the sandy beach to wonderful hiking trails that all will enjoy. Set up camp in the private and wooded park campground and you will have everything you need within a quick drive away.
The beachfront extends to incredible length at low tide and the nearby wooded hiking trail and grass areas offer perfect shelter from the sun when it gets too hot.
The Lepreau Falls located nearby are an impressive sight worth your time; look out for the different viewpoints along the trails. As for that relaxing portion of the trip, make sure to check out the nearby Chance Harbour Nature Spa for a Nordic experience, where a hot tub soak amongst nature is followed by a dip in the cold Bay of Fundy.
Saint John
You will find lots of budget-friendly activities in this area, including the Saint John City Market, buskers and activities on the boardwalk, and savory beer or wine tastings nearby. Try Picaroons in uptown Saint John for delicious brews, or Dunhams Run Estate Winery in nearby Kingston for local wines.
Make sure to take a stroll "uptown" to get a good view of the beautiful architecture of old buildings, and consider stopping for a coffee at Java Moose, as this popular local shop is a go-to for delicious sips!
Finally, don't miss out on the awesome nature areas that are Irving Nature Park and Rockwood Park, or the phenomenon of the Reversing Rapids. Then head up to the top of Fort Howe lookout for a great view of the city.
St. Martins
From walking on the ocean floor to exploring sea caves, this area is the perfect getaway for the nature-loving adventurous souls.
Head out in the ocean with Red Rock Adventure on a kayak tour for incredible views of the sea caves, walk around the top of the cliffs for a view from the top, or wait for low tide and explore the inside on foot. You will be amazed by the powerful force of nature that continues to carve these caves with every rising of the tide.
The Fundy Trail is a must for everyone, and deserves an entire day of exploring! Waterfalls, a suspension footbridge, beaches. and hiking trails await you. Set up camp in one of the wonderful campgrounds for the night and fall asleep to the soothing sound of the waves crashing on the beach.
